May Goals

I know it is only 5 days into May, but the last three have been spent ill, so really I’m not that far behind.

Anyway, the other day I bought my dream pink shoes. Seriously, I have always wanted pink running shoes. These shoes are slightly obnoxious, but absolutely perfect. They have inspired a lot in me.

This month I have made a few goals to help keep me on track with running/eating healthy/life

Goal #1: Run 100 miles.

This goal may be adjusted. I have spent the first five days of May battling an intense cold/sinus infection war and have been slightly incapacitated. I would be really pleased if I reached 75 miles. I have spent this weekend in a cold-medicine haze, only coming out of it twice. I am on the up and up, and hopefully will be back on the road again tomorrow.

Goal #2: Run a 10k in under and hour

Nat and I have signed up for a 10k at the end of the month. Lately (well in April), I have picked up the pace in running and hopefully as I pick up the mileage, I will be able to complete the 6.2 miles in a little under 60 minutes. The finished my last 10k in around 54 minutes, and that was when I was in really good shape- so we will see.

Goal #3: Eat sweets only 2 times a week

I know this seems like a silly goal, but let me be honest, I LOVE DESSERT. I think I have sweet teeth instead of a sweet tooth. I just don’t have the metabolism I used to have and I know that sugar is not that great for your body all around. I’m hoping to substitue my sweet cravings with healthy sugars like fresh fruit. Nat loves dessert and could, and does, eat dessert at least once a day. I am going to have to develop some major self-control this month to reach this goal.

Goal #4: Cook dinner 3 out of 5 nights.

Nat and I eat out maybe once a week. We will occasionally eat out twice, but usually Thursdays are our night out. I, however, am a big advocate of hot dogs and fend for yourself nights when I am feeling lazy. The root of my goal is to waste less food. I want to cook the meals that I plan, so my groceries are eaten rather than thrown in the trash.

May is going to be a great month. School is almost out and I can almost feel the “freedom” of summer. What are some of your goals?

I need accountability, so please feel free to ask me how I’m doing. It is easy for me to let things fall to the wayside…
